This album represents the culmination of pursuing the passion of a retired dentist and a longtime career government worker. Both co-leaders loved the music, but their occupations took them in another direction which relegated them to closet musicians. Neither considered the possibility of becoming full time professional performers, let alone recording artists. Dr.M.Guy Bragg practiced dentistry for over thirty-five years in the State of Maryland, before deciding to take a more serious approach to the music. Bobette Watts-Hitchcock (then Watts) worked for the State of Maryland government when the possibility of pursuing her dream manifested its self. A chance home party engagement led to the request that they perform for a convention. They accepted, but had no group. Subsequent affiliation with three of the areas finest musicians birthed Sterling Silver. After several years and many requests the group has produced it’s first CD. While basically a straight ahead jazz group, it has diversified it’s music to attract different tastes. Witness the vocal approach to the soul original “There is Another Star” by Watts-Hitchcock as well as the incisive spoken word offering of Marc Marcel. You like line dancing, check out “The Surge” which should be up on You Tube soon. (The dance)
